Come join me at La Serrania, located in the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains in northern Mallorca. I am organizing this retreat to be taught by the talented Michael Shemchuk.
THE CLASS
AbD (Abstraction by Design)
The Abstraction by Design method is the process of exploring collage & painting techniques by multi layering the mediums of paper and paint on panels.
The layering of paper and paint enables us to sand, scrape, wet, peel, paint, collage, and repeat to create controlled and incidental textured surfaces. We use acrylic polyurethane as a glue to attach papers, as a resist coat, and as a top coat as well.
Collaging involves color selection, paper choices, placement, gluing, mark-making, composition, and surface extraction. Painting involves panel prep, trowel application, brushing, sanding, surface manipulations, paint mixing, and texturing.

TRIP SUMMARY
Our venue for this retreat is located in northern Mallorca in the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana Mountains. Built on limestone and surrounded by oak trees and olive groves, the venue’s serene and minimalist architecture blends into the Mediterranean setting creating a sense of harmony and wholeness.

Cost:
$3100 pp for double occupancy ( 2 twins + shared bath )
$3800 pp single occupancy ( full or queen + private bath )
